I have seen a colourful slightly surreal painting of a Scrooge type character sat at a desk with the signature/s CAJ and JJ amidst the painting.

Does anyone know who this artist might be?

Thanks.

I have the picture you are talking about, its of Hans Christian Anderson at his desk, and is reflective.

I am afraid I do not know the artist, I have uploaded a picture if this helps anyone. I have circled the signatures to the right of his desk.

Is this the image?

If yes, there is some interesting info on this link, which identifies the initials as those of two sisters, Janet Grahame Johnstone (JJ?), and Anne Grahame Johnstone (CAJ?)

That is indeed the image, thank you.

It does however speak of watercolour on paper, whereas my copy is very much metallic, almost etched looking.

Yup - it does say it's a watercolor image, I was just posting it for reference. The info about the initials and artist on the other link was what I found interesting...
