I have replaced the stem washer of my hose bib but the faucet is still leaking. I have to use a wrench to turn the faucet handle far enough to get it to stop dripping. Any suggestions

It sounds like you have a bad valve seat, suggest to replace the valve seat you will need a faucet seat removal wrench see the images, good luck.

If still leaking after new washer then seat is damaged. Replace seat or replace hose bib.

Thank you. If the valve seat is the same as the small rubber gasket that is held by a screw at the end of the stem then I have replaced it. Sorry, not familiar with all the terms, but based on your diagram it appears to be the same thing I replaced. My stem runs horizontial into the hose bib rather than vertical though. It did help replacing it but I still have to turn the faucet too hard to get dripping to stop. It sounds like I may need a new hose bib unless you have any other suggestions. I really appreciate the responses. Thanks.

Hi TT
A faucet seat is not the same thing as a washer... although it is hard to differentiate that from the picture above.
To remove a seat, you need a seat removal tool and a new seat (see images). For best result, you would remove the old seat first and then bring it over to a plumbing supply store... they should have a replacement.
If this is an anti.-freeze outside faucet then they don't have replaceable seats that I know of. Either way, as you know, if the seat is not there or can't be replaced, you'll need to install an entirely new outside faucet.
Good luck!
