hi there. I am pcos. In September I stopped my contraceptive pill precribed by my gyne. Now she started me on gylciphage sr 1000mg and fertisure tablets which are pregnant supported pills . my fertile window was from 1 oct to 7 oct. I got light spotting on 8 & 9 oct. I think it might be ovulation spotting. we had baby dance according to that on every other day.
my period is due on 21 oct. but now its 4 days late. I took hpt but its negative.
does pcos women have low hcg level in starting stage? or it is just delayed because I stopped contraceptive last month.
please help me out...

Sadly there's no way to give you the information you seek.

Four days late is nothing. It's too soon to test. So any test taken at that stage, isn't accurate. A test should be taken after your period is 2 weeks late, using first morning urine, for the most accuracy. Even then a false negative is possible.

Test in 10 days using first morning urine. If that test is negative, wait for your next period. If you miss it, test again, or get a blood test.

Good luck.

Thanks Alty... for your reply dear..
Well I should wait for at least one week to take hpt.
But heard that you can get a result of hpt on the day you missed the period.
May be my hcg level is low right now to detect..

There are so many commercials claiming that their tests can predict pregnancy before a missed period, or shortly after. For the average female that's not true at all. Claiming that they can predict how far along you are, as accurate as an ultrasound (an ultrasound can be off 2 weeks either way, so up to 4 weeks) is even a bigger joke.

The facts are, many women don't get a positive until well into their second trimester of pregnancy. Some women (a smaller percentage) never get a positive with a home urine test even at 9 months of pregnancy. There are shows like "I didn't know I was pregnant" for a reason.

In your case, you're 4 days late. That's too early to test. If you got a positive I'd say congrats, but you got a negative, which is not uncommon. You tested early. Too early for all tests. There are no tests that can detect a hormone that isn't present yet. The embryo has to be implanted before the hcg hormone is present. Unless you took basal temperature, tracked ovulation for at least 6 months, you could have ovulated any time during your cycle, even during your period. So there's no way to know when sperm met egg, then traveled, and then implanted in the uterus and started releasing the hcg hormone. Testing at 4 days past your period isn't accurate with any test.

Sorry, I went on and on and on, but really, wait 10 days, test again using first morning urine. If that test is negative, wait for your next period. If you miss it, test again or get a blood test. Don't believe the commercials.

You're very welcome. Please come back and let me know how it goes. Baby dust your way, since you're obviously trying to conceive. Been there done that, and have 2 wonderful children to show for all that concern and stress. :)

It is all worth it in the end, and I could tell you stories that would make you even more confident that it will happen for you.

So let me know how it works out. If it doesn't work out, I'm here for support, along with many others on this site. :)

Now I am 10 days late. Still no sign of AF.
But from past few days, I feel some mild cramps in my lower abdomen. Also I feels very sleepy and hungry.
Should I go for the test now or wait?
