My toilet is bubbling in both of my bathrooms and I have not ran any water or used the toilet for about an hour. What could be causing this problem? Thanks

Hi Missy

It could be that the city/town is working on the sewer main drain in the street... a simple call to the city/town to see if they are working in your area will resolve this question... ;)

If that is not the issue, then I wonder aloud, is this a multi. Family home? If so, then the main drain may be clogged and needs to be cleared fast or sewerage could end up backing up into your tub/apartment quickly (contact people next to you and above you and ask them to limit water use until you resolve this)!

If no multi. Family, and no city/town involvement then I have to ask you how many kids are in the home??

Investigate here... report back with results!

Mark

It is 9 pm at night here so the city is closed right now. I will call them tomorrow. This is a single family home. I bought the house three years go. I have one child a five year old daughter. She has been asleep since 8 pm.

Ok..

A lot of towns/cities work on sewer mains in the street at night, so do be sure to call tomorrow morning and check to see if they were working on the drains in your area tonight.

Is this still happening now or has it resolved at this point? If this is a one time fluke then I'm stickin' to the city/town drain cleaners. If this is something that is happening all day then you may have a fixture that is running water into the drains AND you may also have a partially clogged main drain (or are you on septic tank?) and this could cause "bubbling".

Lots of guessing here... Anything else can you tell me?

Yes. There is an update. This morning there is toilet paper and poop in my front yard and I can see water down the hole in the front yard. ( overflow or clean out whatever you can it) I called the city and they said they have not worked on the sewer and would see if it is the city pipes. I really do not think it is my house causing all this mess. It is just me and daughter living by our self. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

The first thing I would do is snake from the cleanout to the street. If the city is not at fault, then you have a blockage in your sewer line. You will most likely find a blockage at the riser next to the curb. Let me know how you make out, Tom
