I have a switch and outlet in the same box, the outlet works but no power to the switch. The box has two black and two white and a ground coming out of the top of the box, the bottom has one white one black and one red. I have wired it multiple ways and either the outlet works or nothing at all works but, can never get pwer to the light switch. Please help.

So what wires do you have connected to the outlet when it works.

Where is the supply to the box coming from?

Is the switch supposed to operate the receptacle or something else?
