I don't know what the laws are in Illinois but here in California the Title document used to come from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Now it's administered by State Department of Housing and Community Development. If your State requires annual registration only (and your mobile home is in a park - you pay space rent and don't own the property) the title should be available by filing for a lost title at your local motor vehicle office. If you have a mobile home on your property and you pay annual property taxes (no registration) the agency that should be able to provide a replacement title, may be a county agency. I don't know if there is a state level administration organization for mobile home records in Illinois. Maybe your county recorders office. Anyway... there is most likely a process for obtaining a lost title (with the correct documentation identifying the MH,as well as your legal possession of it). Whether that agency is "State" or "County" doesn't matter. If you know someone with a mobile home title... it would really help if you looked at it
To determine who the issuing agent is. Good Luck -Steve

Moved from this thread (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/real-estate-law/manufactured-home-title-67048-3.html). (I don't want to read pages of old questions which are probably inapplicable anyway.)
