I got my cartilage pierced twice on my right ear about a week or two ago, and its very sore I can't lay on it but I can touch them and spin them, with pain. Occasionally my ear will itch in that general vicinity. Its not red its not swollen and its not pussing or anything I've been spraying it with bactine maybe once a day or once every other day. It was done with a gun at a little kiosk in the mall, I just want to make sure this is normal because I've heard bad stories of cartilage piercings. I loosened the backs of the earrings thinking it would relieve the pain a little but the pain is consistent now

It has been many years since I got my cartilage pierced, but I can say that I do not remember being in that much pain from it.

You should be using a saline solution to clean your piercing, not Bactine. Unless, of course, this is what the piercing professional told you to use.

After I got mine pierced, I became ill with the Flu. I slept on my right ear so much that my piercing pushed through the hole and new skin grew over the top of it. I had to go to the doctor to get the earring cut out of my ear.

If you are concerned and in that much pain, you should go see the piercer and ask for their professional opinion. Or see a doctor.

You should be able to turn it without it hurting.

It's not good to have got it done with a gun. I had to learn the hard way as well!
9 months ago, I had my cartilage piercing done on the left ear with a gun. 2 weeks later and my piercing was the same as yours - painful to sleep on and twist. Things healed up after about a month for me, but then I changed the piercing (it had one of those really tough safety locks on and it hurt like hell getting it off), and then my ear became infected and I had an itchy red lump filled with pus. I consulted the piercer again because I thought my ear might explode but rest assured, they said it was normal and advised a salt water solution. If you clean your piercings out twice a day with a teaspoon of salt and a small glass of warm water, the pain should begin to ease off.
The one thing I hadn't anticipated when getting it done is that a cartilage piercing takes 12 months to heal properly, so I'd wait a bit longer until you decide to change the earring.
Mine's completely fine now though, but a little tip is to dedicate yourself to the cleaning process, because it was noticeably more painful the times I had left it a few days without tending to it.
Hope this helps :-)

The gun will destroy you're cartilage and cause more pain, I had my conch done 2 weeks ago and yes it still hurts, but it's les and less each day, it absolutely killed to start with. You should have got an after care kit, telling you it will be painful, ad could be are up to 4 weeks, especially with the cartilage piercing. Wash it twice a day with salt water, add a quarter tea spoon of sea salt with boiling water and leave to cool, this makes it heal much faster and keeps away the bacteria

It doesn't matter if the 'professional' told you to use bactine or not, it is not the proper antibacterial to use. Sea salt and warm water solution is best, ad previously mentioned.
