Hello,
Yesterday we bought a Samoyed puppy, but he has not been vaccinated against dog plague yet. The last vaccine dose will be given on the 1st of September. So this means that the puppy has to stay in our apartment for half a month, so that the dog can not contract plague. She is very young (2.5 months old) and she is currently peeing and pooing everywhere in our house. This is starting to annoy me because I don't know what to do. I can't let her go outside because of the plague. And I can't let her poo everywhere because this is inappropriate and not very hygienic. Could you please help me with finding the solution how to teach such a small dog to do her thing on a mat or something?

P.S Am I right in thinking that if I train her to pee in one place it will later be difficult to train her to do her thing outside?

Thank you.

The plague? You mean parvo?

Your puppy can still go outside.. you just need to be careful where you go.. avoid areas where everyone's dogs go and high traffic places. With two vaccines done your pup is semi protected.

Being that paranoid is pointless unless you bleach your shoes every time you enter your home.

Samoyeds are very Intelligent, a working dog, needs a lot of exercise. Your dog is not that young at 2.5 months, just get her/him out for lots of walks and he/she will be very happy!

I agree with Lucky, but I do want to add. This is a puppy, around 10 weeks old. If you're annoyed because she's having accidents in the house, you're in for a rude awakening, and a very bumpy ride. She's a baby. She will have accidents, even if you start taking her outside to pee and poo. You cannot expect any dog, especially a puppy, to automatically be potty trained.

I'm a bit worried that it's only been a day and you're already fed up. This can take months. Can you handle that, and accept that?
