I've noticed a bump on the top of the insiode of my ear. It's right where the cartalige curves at the top. It feels a bit squishy (like it's got fluid in it) when squeezed gently. It doesn't hurt except when I wake up because of sleeping on it. Any ideas what it could be or what is causing it? I think I remember it being smaller a few months ago and just disregarded it. Now I'm worried that it's something I should be worried about.

Any help would be great

Sounds like it could possibly be a pimple? Have you had your mom or dad take a look at it?

I haven't had anyone look at it. It's not a pimple. I've had many. I'm sure it's not one.

Pimples that we get on or around our ears are much different than the ones we get on our faces. There is much more oil that can accumulate there because of hair, etc. They are usually much bigger and more painful and contain much more pus.

Typically if you have had a pimple in or on your ear. It can harden and appear as a lump in your ear. I have one in my right it, it used to be a pimple, but it hardened over time, it is now larger than it was, but it's there. I have friends with the same thing.

OK - I've had pimples in my ear before. I know generally what they look like and feel like. This feels a bit like an oval, watery, tiny bit swollen with no pain or discomfort (unless been slept on for hours) lump in my ear. So if it's a pimple then basically you're telling me it's OK to take my pocket knife and lance it and see what happens?

NO!! Don't take your pocket knife and stab it!!

Not unless you are ready for a serious infection. An opening in the skin is a sure way to get an infection, especially with something like a pocket knife.

Best way to deal with this is to put a very warm wash cloth on in, bring it to a "head" so that it will "pop" on its own.

If you use your pocket knife you risk serious infection. Please don't do that.

But I've used a pocket knife on so many other things in my life and never got infected. How are you so sure it's a pimple and not something a lot more serious?

Because near your ear is a prime source of infection, it's moist, and his air, and comes in contact with everything airborn.

I also have that exact thing on my right ear. Same spot same no pain unless slept on or toyed with too much. Mine just started showing up three weeks ago and I just went to my fam doc and he said the same thing< it is most likely a oversized pimple. The other possibilities were, a cyst or maybe some odd result to damaged cartilage. What have you done about it so far?

I had the same thing and had to have ear surgery, you most likely have a cist and need to get it removed asap.
