She said that to get a resident Visa from the US Embassy so she can stay in the US with me with no problems etc (5 yrs) it would cost this much. Other travel/tourists Visas are much cheaper but for a permanent resident Visa this is the cost.
She coverwed half of it and I senther $1400.00. She email ed me a copy of the Visa and the receipt----
Could I email them to you and have you tell me if they look kosher?
Thx, Dennis

You could post them here, but it won't do any good.
She may have received thousands of dollars from countless men. Sure, she has a Visa now, but is she going to come here? And be with you? No... this is her livelihood. She probably has a husband and children. She might not even be a 'she' as a lot of these scams are done by groups of men, who pretend to be women, or they use one woman to scam hundreds of men.
It doesn't matter what her visa looks like - it could be fake, real, or someone else's, and if it's real, it doesn't mean she isn't showing it to 300 other guys who sent her 1400.
And this isn't how it works anyway. The US doesn't let people in for 5 years for X dollars.
Did you do any sponsoring papers?
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But this is such a common scam out of Ghana that I'm surprised you didn't know about it before.

She wants to do this traditional marriage ceremony in Ghana so she can be my wife. She needs me to send her $1600.00 and her uncle is going to cover the other expenses. She said she would Skype with me and talk with me on Skype today. If she would skype with you would you go along with this?
Thanks for your help! Do you do this for a living?

She will keep needing more money. Don't send more and don't talk to her more. No I won't skype with her. If you send her any more you are a blithering fool. Promise! Hundreds of us will tell youthIhs!

What do you mean, who am I?
I am a regular responder on these boards, retired and in my 60s.
I read about the Ghana marriage scam every single day. Google it, or do a search here.
I'm not sure where YOU have been hiding that you aren't aware of this.
Paying the US Embassy in Ghana or anywhere else is NOT how someone gets into the US!
But that's beside the point.
Apparently you are in love and are blind and don't want to hear this, so go ahead, keep sending her money.
We've seen that happen here too.
There is no wedding, she won't come here, this is a SCAM. You want to throw more money at her because you can't believe you threw away 1400. It's an old carny trick. Heck, it's the oldest scam there is. More needs more needs more and you won't stop.

Scam!! However, I do have a daughter who needs her college paid for. You could send the money directly to the college and not to me. You will even get a receipt from the college.
Oh, and it's much cheaper than the money you are losing over this "girl."

You are being scammed. Plain and simple.
Skyping proves nothing.
Visa proves nothing.
She will keep asking for money with reason after reason and when you finally have no more, or wake up and stop sending it, you will not hear from her again.
It doesn't matter who we are or what we do for a living... we know this, and it's a well known scam. We have warned you, now it is up to you from here.

Ok, I had the honor of visiting in Ghana a few years ago, I was even given a tour of one of these marriage scam business. They are very proud of them, and they are protected by the police there, who are on payroll for them.
While there are single operators, who do this by theirself, normally this is how it works
There is a large office with dozens of people working, many times they work two or three shifts, they have someone who is great at photo shop or other program that makes fake passports, visas and more. They have a few girls that get paid extra to do web cam work.
But will have excuse when they are not working, why they can not web cam that day.
They will work several months sometimes as long as you talk, to build a relationship before ask for money. Once they get money, they will keep having more things they want money for. A traditional wedding in Ghana would cost about 300 US dollars, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT A US DOLLAR IS WORTH THERE.
Next it is already a scam, since they can not get that visa, that easy nor for that amount of money.
You are being cheated, and after this, there will be more and more fees, till you figure it out, or run out of money.

He doesn't really want to believe us and has already sent money... it wouldn't surprise me if he sends more.
I used to scam-bait these people (and the typical 419 scammers) and their scripts really are ridiculous if you just step back and look at them with common sense in mind. I can't understand how people fall for it so easily.

Please don't add to someone else's question, but YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED TOO. Start a new post and give details. Don't ask 1 cryptic vague question about travel allowances.
