I installed a 24' pool 160 feet from my house. I need to run power to it. The pool pump is 1 hp. The pool room will have 3 electrical outlets and one ceiling fan. I would like to have the option of adding and additional breaker later on for a shed I hope to build app 40 feet from the pool room. I need info on the materials I will need and directions on how to do it. I have to do the work myself as I can't afford an electrician to do it. I think I can do it if given good directions. Please Help. Karen

You will need to install a subpanel for what you plan. You will need to run either underground conduit or direct bury cable. At that distance the wire cost will be pretty substantial plus the box and breakers. This is a DIY project for an experienced person with good electrical knowledge due to NEC regulations including such items as wire and outlet needs, circuit protection including Ground fault breakers, grounding requirements. This is way above just pulling a wire 160 ft from the house. How do you plan to dig a 160 ft trench to bury the wiring 18" deep?

... along with the above concerns, being cheap on any electrical project can be hazardous to someone's health, yours or someone you care about. Cut corners on paint and wallpaper not the electrical work.

It always amazes me how folks can afford to have a pool (and a pool house no less) installed, yet say they can't afford to have the electric done properly and safely.
Seriously kfwhitfo, you want a materials list and instructions on "how to do it"? Good luck with that.
