My girlfriend's period is 10 days delayed. She took a contraceptive pill even though intercourse wasn't involved to be on the safe side. She had spotting a week or two after taking the pill, had some vaginal discharge for a couple of days followed by lower abdominal pain and frequent urination. Not sure am I but consider these as a part of the side effects of the pill. All these symptoms have stopped now, but her period is 10 days late.
What can be the reason?

She took a contraceptive pill even though she wasn't sexually active?

Has she ever been sexually active?

Did she take the pill when her period was 10 days late?

She took the pill within 24 hours of the act.
No, she wasn't sexually active before.

I am confused.

She took the pill within 24 hours of what act?

You said intercourse was not involved.

The symptoms she is having could be from the pill, but also from many other things.

If she is concerned she may want to see her physician.

Articles posted on some websites may sometimes mislead people. One of the articles read that the precum may contain some quantity of semen. We had unprotected oral sex, and there may be chances that my precum had come in come in contact with her vagina. These things led her to take the pill.

Well, if she thinks that maybe she is pregnant she can always take a HPT two weeks after her missed period using her first mornings urine.

If she is in deed not pregnant, I would suggest that she look into getting on some form of birth control. Although no form of birth control is 100% effective, it is better than no birth control.

She can also be stressed out from thinking she may be pregnant and this could be delaying her period.

She should take a pregnancy test to be sure.

If you are not ready to be a father you should refrain from any and all forms of sexual activity!
