I want to identify a movie. I have brief idea of its plot line.

See I don't have a clear idea of the plot line. I can roughly write 2-3 lines about it. It is about a guy (perhaps with some of his friends) traveling and on the way he/they find a new place/city. However as movie progresses he/they discovered that there is no city with that name. Perhaps at the end the mystery behind it is solved. Can you identify this movie?

Here's a possibility.

Disappearance (2002 TV movie)
IMDb review:
Driving through the desert with his family and son's friend, Jim Henley (Harry Hamlin) ends up taking a shortcut that lands them in an out-of-the-way ghost town called Weaver. It's not long before Jim realizes that he took a wrong turn, with the town being deserted since 1948, when a neutron bomb was detonated outside of town~perhaps while some people remained, refusing to leave. Then, their vehicle won't start, and they're stranded in Weaver overnight. The following day, Jim's wife, Patty (Susan Dey), falls down a mineshaft, and Ethan (Jamie Croft), the friend of their son, Matt (Jeremy Lelliott), ends up vanishing while he and Jim are attempting to walk to Two Wells, the neighboring town where they stopped before venturing to Weaver. Much later, we almost get a hint of what's really going on in both Weaver and Two Wells when Kate Henley (Basia A'Hern) spots a waitress she recognizes from a videotape they found in Weaver~a woman who apparently was attacked by something (or things) which also killed those traveling with her.

At least we'll know whether to rule it out, and I can come back to see if you've added anymore information.
