Engine starts, but immediately chokes when oily/gasoline discharge floods carburetor from crankcase vent tube connected to air filter housing. Black, oily fluid gushes from vent tube with some pressure behind it. Disconnected tube and started engine, which continued running, but was burning more oil. Any ideas for fixing this are appreciated. Thank you.

Gas is getting in with oil, overfilling the crankcase with a mixture of both. Engine starts, but immediately chokes when oily/gasoline discharge floods carburetor from crankcase vent tube connected to air filter housing. Black, oily fluid gushes from vent tube with some pressure behind it. Disconnected tube and started engine, which continued running, but was burning more oil.

Hi,
It is still pushing the mixture beneath the piston rings on the bottom of the cylinder. You must drain and refill with 30wt. Replace oil filter if so equipped. Most probably there is a piece of trash stuck between the inlet needle and seat in the carb causing it.
Peace,
Clarke

Thank you. The carburetor solenoid had come apart and was not closing the float/needle valve when the ignition was turned off. I pressed it together, checked to see it worked with the ignition key, changed oil and removed spark plug to clear cylinder. Everything working again. Thanks for the help.

PS... Now trying to fix my SX-135 Homelite Bandit Weed Trimmer. Replaced carb, fuel lines, and heat dam. Starts with starting fluid, but does not seem to get fuel. Any ideas?
