I have laminate wood flooring in my kitchen. One of my children spilled something on the floor and neglected to clean it up. When I noticed it, it had already buckled. Is there any home fix-it I can try to correct this. I cannot afford to have it repaired and would appreciate any help.

You can try the manufacturer but my experience is once it buckles, delaminates, it is ruined. Put some wax paper on the spot and then a very heavy flat object like a concrete block. Let it dry a few days. It may look better but not new again. Sorry

You need to have the floor taken apart and the same wood put in to replace the bad section. If it was a snap-in job, or nailed, you may will have the best luck, but if it was glued it will most likely show a bump where new meets old. Sometimes you can use the flooring under the refrigerator to make a perfect match. You must have a real craftsman do this kind of repair.

I know people like laminated floors in kitchens, but this is what happens if the frig leaks, sink overflows, there are spills, diswasher leaks, etc. If I were you, I would take my losses now, and go for a good vinyl or ceramic tile floor - Even if you get it fixed, it can happen again.
Sorry.

Leaving weight on the floor won't help much but will help some, let it dry for a while see if it is something you can live with until funds are available then call manufacturer they normally have a shop or two in your area with installers that can do this repair but it does take someone with talent and patience.
