Ok So Here's the Deal A family member Got Called for Jury duty On the 27th Of June Which happens to be My Birthday Will they get in trouble if they Don't go

Yes, they could. Why not just celebrate on the following Saturday?

It's not OK to just not show up. If a defendant is accused of a crime and believes he is innocent, can he just fail to appear in court? Of course not. Same idea.

Generally, one has to be excused first. Call the jury clerk and ask.

But if I was the person in charge of allowing excuses, I would say "no". As J 9 suggested, celebrate your birthday on another day.

Ditto - pick another day. A lot of people postpone birthdays for weekends anyway.

Oh sure... when you get a jury duty notice, you can just decide if you want to go or not... I mean, it's not like it's an official notice or anything. I'm sure that they will consider a family birthday as a great reason not to show up.

Ok, that was all sarcasm in case you didn't notice. When I have received jury duty notices, it always said something on the form about the need to show up and that you were not allowed to just blow it off. There is a number to call... better have them start calling.
