I am in the process of replacing the hydro-static drive belt on my 185 Hydro. I am to the point of; Do I take the electric clutch off? Or what else is needed to get the belt on? Getting around the clutch problem or tips to finish the job.

Hi,
If you have one of the Eaton/Peerless combo drives, then this should do:
Installation, Repair and Replacement of John Deere 165, 175 and 185 Hydro Lawn Tractor Drive Belt (http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/repairs/deere_175_drive_belt.asp)
If you have the last year model with the Tuutorq(Kanzaki) I am afraid I do not know of a place to get it other than buying the John Deere service manual.
Peace,
Clarke

I have looked again at the instructions that say that you do not have to remove the electric clutch, but they HAVE removed the clutch to change??

Hi,
It makes it easier, but is not required except the electrical plug . You must take both steering arms loose at the front axle and take the bolts from the brace at the midpoint of the machine and rotate to get the belt by.
Peace,
Clarke
