I had a new bathroom put in my basement. Up until about 3 days ago the light was working, along with the outlet and exhaust fan. Now the light will not work but the other 2 do. I flipped the breaker on/off and nothing. The vent seems to be running at a low speed as well. I do know that the outlet is a 20 amp. The vent and light are on the same switch. What should I do?

Loose wire, bad switch or bad bulb. Light could be fed off the GFCI load side, are you sure the GF is not tripped? Bath fans tend to collect a lot of dust and can be oiled.

I have a gfci on the opposite side of the wall from the switch. I plugged in a nightlight and nothing. I reset, still nothing. So I am assuming the gfci and the switch are on the same line and its tripped and won't reset? Am I thinking this out properly? If so, any suggestions for next steps? It's a new outlet (a month old). Thanks for the help ma0641

Pull the GFCI and test for current at the outlet.
