My pom is about 1 1/2 and still goes in his kennel at least once a week and still goes in the house. Any advice?

The vet has checked for a UTI or something? It could also be deliberate as a leadership challenge. The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. Start at Raising Your Dog with the Monks of New Skete (http://www.dogsbestfriend.com/) For more on being top dog, see Establishing and Keeping Alpha Position (http://www.dogbreedinfo.com./topdogrules.htm) If you are firmly established as top dog, he will not try to claim the house by marking in it.
The housebreaking section of the sticky, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/information-articles-our-dogs-expert-labman-53153.html#post251809 explains using a grid to keep puppies up out of accidents. For over night, try moving dinner up and not letting him have water after 7 PM.
