I said the drug war was racist. You said it wasn't. Here's PROOF that it is. (http://www.aclu.org/files/assets/aclu-thewaronmarijuana-rel2.pdf) The report from the ACLU, using data from the federal government, is the largest review of pot arrests by county and race ever done. It shows what a waste it all was, and how inequitable the law was applied.

Black and white people smoke pot at the same rates, yet even in my very liberal city, black's are arrested for simple pot POSSESSION at TWICE the rate of whites.. In Tacoma, just south of here, black people are arrested for POSSESSION at 4.2 times the rate of white people. It's happening ALL over the country. You can find YOUR county in the report.

I say again, the drug war is the new Jim Crow law, and I have PROOF!

In my area pick up any arrest and/or conviction statistics - blacks are arrested far more often percentage wise than whites when it comes to traffic violations and they are far more likely to receive jail time for DWI than whites.

It's not just the drug laws that are racist.

Is it racism at the "crime scene," money buys better legal representation, something else?

Imagine that, blacks are arrested for possession at 8.05 times the rate of whites in DC. You'd think Obama would do something about that.

This is no secret, a white businessman would probably get a drive home if he got caught with cocaine and agreed to share it with the officer, but a poor, and/or black person caught with marijuana would end up with a criminal record.

The IRS "targets" a few right wing groups, and the right wing goes nuts...

But, when the police TARGET African-Americans for pot at 8 times the rate of whites (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/16/opinion/sunday/racially-biased-arrests-for-pot.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20130616), they yawn.. In some counties, it's 10, 15 or even 30 times as likely that blacks will be arrested for simple possession while the cops turn a comparatively blind eye to the same conduct occurring at the same rates in many white communities.

Something stinks here in this great country of ours, and it ain't marijuana smoke..

So teach your cops not to be racist and not to take the easy target, no they are stopping the flood in anyway they can, as I said if the black community weren't carrying they wouldn't get caught and the cops would have to widen their net. What you could do is remove the jail term and increase the fines, sooner or later someone would get the message or is it your judges just want bigger road gangs. Of course it could just be the black community have less respect for the law and so get caught in the net
