My husband and I live in Alaska. He has supported his children from the day they were born from a previous marriage. A son had passed and we moved his ex-wife and daughter from Germany to Alaska to live with us for a small period. She moved on, and the daughter lived with her. We do not have any court orders for child support. We voluntarily gave her $1000 per month while in Alaska and then they both moved to Colorado. We decreased the payment to $500 per month. His daughter is now 17 years old, not going to school, and does not live with mother. Are we obligated to pay child support due to the threats of mother? Is she within her rights to be threatening us? It is a very sad story. My husband loves his daughter and would do anything for her but she refuses to live with either parent. What are his rights?
