Mouse chewed through the wires from the thermostat to the compressor. When I reattached the red to the red and the white to the white the compressor runs but the air handler does not. The way I diagnosed the problem was last year the same thing happened. My wife turned on the A/C in the office but it blew hot air. I watched the A/C guy put the wires back, tape them off, and it worked. Same thing happened the other day, the fan worked until I put the wires back together. Now the air handler doesn't turn on.

The way it is commonly done is Wiring from Thermostat to Air Handler, and wiring from Air Handler to Outside Compressor Unit.
Many time the Blower will be the Green wire.
