Bizzaire to say the least, A US diplomat has been caught "spying" in such an inept manner one could only think he might have been caught on a training exercise. It could be said he has been foyled, and US intelligence foyled again

US diplomat ordered to leave Russia in spy case - World news (http://www.mail.com/int/news/world/2084006-us-diplomat-ordered-to-leave-russia-spy-case.html#.1272-stage-hero1-2)

If you are going to be a spy surely this is an unlikely name for an operative and an unlikely scenario to send a junior into. I wonder how many of these foyles are wandering around

It is comical, oafish, Mad Magazine 'Spy vs Spy' stuff.
http://www.retrocpu.com/nes/images/games/s/spy_vs_spy.cover.front.jpg

Professor Steven Cohen (caviat... he is married to Hurricane Katrina vanden Heuvel but most times his take on the Russians is right on the money) has long argued that whenever there appears to be a thaw in US -Russian relations ,there is an event that undermines the effort .It is like there are forces in the US and the Russian Federation(or Soviet Union) that work to derail such efforts.

Multiple wigs ,sunglasses ,compass ,dagger, walking around with a recruitment letter in his pocket... really?? It's like he was trying to get caught .

Cohen points out examples like the 4 Power Summit of May 14 ,1960 that was derailed over the downing of an American U2 Spy plane on May 1,1960 .The Russians hadn't ever come close to detecting the flight of the plane ,let alone shoot it down. But somehow they managed to track it and lock it on their radar on the eve of the summit. It's almost like someone gave them a heads up. Ike said he'd ordered an end to U2 spy planes, but someone in the US military sent it anyway, knowing that it distressed Russians.

Anyway ,relations got very cold after that . JF Kennedy suspended U2 flights ,and the Russians took the opportunity to send nukes to Cuba .
Cohen has written about many such examples.

Now fast forward to last week . This arrest comes simultaneous with a joint press conferernce with Emperor Zero and the British PM, talking about meeting with Putin. Since the Boston bombing , there's been much better coordination US-Russia on intell, and a discussion about Syria is underway . Now Putin doesn't trust America anyway ;and he really soured on the Emperor when he lied about the intent of the no-fly zones in Libya. Putin will not make the mistake again . If there is any peace deal arranged by the US ,then Russia will sit at the table too as an equal chair . So JF Kerry was in Moscow last week in a 'shape of the table ' meeting . Then this spy thing happens ? It can't be a coincidence.

Yes I know detante or anti-detante, one day some one will grow up and become part of the real world and you know, I don't care whether it is Obama or Putin, I would just like it to happen

I think the Russians realize Assad is going down. They just want to shape the post-Assad Syria . They want to keep their Mediterranean port.
