Greetings~
We received notification from a credit card company approximately 4 months ago that it would be going to garnishment. My husband called & tried to work out an arrangement, but was told it was too late... the process had already begun for garnishment. Nothing happened & when he called back app. 1-2 months later, he was told that somehow our account had been overlooked (or something to that extent), but they would be reviewing it again in a couple weeks. This was in January, I believe. We still haven't heard anything & nothing has been taken out of the paychecks. We also have not been making monthly payments. As I said, when my husband asked about that (both times), he was told it was too late because the garnishment process had been started. Do we have any options at this point? We're worried about getting deeper into all of this because of all the time that has passed without making payments! Thanks for your help.

Credit card companies do not usually try to garnish wages, is this possibly a collection agency (scavenger agency) that bought your debt from the CC? If so be cautious and come back with more info. Do not admit the debt or offer to settle or pay until you hear from more of us.

Yes, I'm sorry, this was from a collection agency. We had missed a couple payments, so it was turned over to them. I believe my husband spoke to the credit card people and the collection agency as well. I'll talk to him tonight & refresh my memory on more of the specifics.
