I am in the process of redoing my bathroom and was wondering if the attached plumbing sketch will work. Specifically, I'm wondering if it's okay to dump the toilet directly into the main line with the vent about 3 feet thereafter. I thought I read somewhere that it was bad practice to do this, but I'm not sure. Also, I'm on the UPC. Thanks!

Hi Bergs

Sorry, but as you have this drawn up, nothing makes sense?

Here, I see the lav. Drain (underground?) and then the lav. Vent with the wye faced up and vent pointing up... can't do that.

I also see a 2" drain line connecting into the toilet drain for what I guess is the tub or shower, but no vent presented?

Perhaps if you drew up a drawing showing the fixture layout and where the main drain is in relation to everything, as well as where you plan for the vent(s) to come up out of the ground/floor we could tell you more, OK?

Hi Mark,

Sorry that sketch wasn't clear. Here are more drawings of the complete set up. Basically -- double lav, tub, and toilet. I was concerned that as I have it sketched right now, it won't work because the toilet has other fixtures draining into it before its vents since the toilet is on the main line. The two photos show the existing layout, which is basically staying the same, except for the toilet fittings. Thanks!
