Im 17 and thinking of getting my tongue pierced this summer. I don't really have a great pain tolerance and am a bit worried about the pain. The only thing that I have pierced are my ears like most people. So how bad does it hurt? And how do I prepare for it?

Yes, it hurts, you very likely will get infections along the way, food will get stuck in the hole that has been created, your teeth and fillings will get cracked, and your speech will change and become less coherent (i.e. you will sound slurred and stupid). Also, many employers will not want to hire someone with a tongue piercing. Lower-class women on Maury Povich's and Jerry Springer's TV shows have tongue piercings, and that is how you will be perceived by society as a whole.
I vote no.
