What exactly does FAFSA require as "proof of income"? (Tax returns? Pay stubs? Employer letter?) Does he have income?

His income would be self employment if he has no proof of income. What type of work do they do, how are they paid

That's called "working off the books," and it's a crime.

he works in a family buisness but he gets paid cash only

Regardless of how he works, he is required to file taxes. He might count as an independent contractor or self-employed.

Don't quite understand your question, but FAFSA is not taxable. Though it shows in tax return but doesn't count as income.

Being a beneficiary, his income does not count, but he should file tax return if he works, it helps in term of proving moral character.

"Regardless of how he works, he is required to file taxes. He might count as an independent contractor or self-employed."

She already said he has no proof of income.

People with cash income or gambling winning only can file tax return... anyone who makes more than $600 a year.

I agree with you but my spidey senses say this is under the table - why else mention cash and family business?

Too many years investigating fraud, I guess.
