Hi guys, I came off the depo injection last week because me and my boyfriend are planning baby number two. I understand that the menstrual cycle can take a hell of a long time to appear again preventing getting pregnant. However I woke up this morning with bad period pains and I've got my period back already after just one week of stopping the jab. I may just be incredibly thick but does that mean I could get pregnant any time now?

Anytime you are having sex, you can get pregnant, regardless of birth control methods. Some women are lucky enough to be able to get pregnant right away after getting off the shot. Doctors usually advise you that it takes up to 18 months for you to get pregnant after the shot, before becoming concerned. I would get a pre-conception exam done, (just to make sure everything is in order for when you do get pregnant) and start taking prenatal vitamins(or at least folic acid) This way when you do get pregnant, you will be prepared, and know that both you and baby had the best start possible. Personally I would use condoms for a few more months, just to give you body a little bit of time to readjust from the shot, before sending it through the pregnancy hormone loop. But it is entirely up to you. Good luck and best wishes
