I would like to find out if it is legal for a convicted child molester to buy rental properties that already have families with children living in them? Also does the same child molester have the right to own a FAMILY Restaurant?

That question would be for in the state of Indiana.

What level of sex offender?

I doubt if its illegal for any to own rental properties or own a "family" restaurant. The terms of his probation will dictate whether he can come in contact with children.

Hello:

Even IF the rules prevent him from "being in contact" with children, and LOTS of them do, does that mean he can't walk down a public sidewalk where there are children present? It does NOT.

Therefore, I suggest that "owning a family" restaurant is NOT a precluded activity. Similarly, simply owning a property where children live isn't a violation either...

However, I detect an UNDERLYING motive behind your post. Are you REALLY concerned about the public, or is this retaliation?

Its all about being a responsible parent, concerned parent, and aware human being. I don't like the fact that child molesters think they deserve more rights. All businesses are video taped. Who's to say its just not another way of a molester getting his jollies. This is not retaliation in any manner other than I have children, boys and girls. Anyone who takes the pureness of any child deserves nothing. The fact that they do not have full time supervision is sickening. Our children are preyed on by molesters on a daily basis and we nor they even realize it. Its sickening when you really sit down and be a responsible thinking and being adult. And frankly, as far as them owning rental property: are you serious? They also have the right to have KEYS to get into places occupied by families with children? WOW, This world has really went to hell in a hand basket.

So, do you know of any specific instance of this happening or is this just a hypothetical?

First, there are levels of sexual offender. The levels mainly refer to the probability of recidivism. Would you be concerned about a man who was convicted of having sex with his 14 yr old girlfriend when he was 16?

Second, a convicted sex offender has spent time in jail. Do you really think they would have the capital to buy rental properties or restaurants? While it might be possible in rare instances, its unlikely.

Thirdly, I think YOU need to see someone about your paranoia. This society has lost a great deal of its privacy through the ubiquitous use of surveillance cameras and cell phones. To be concerned because your young children will show up on a camera while enjoying a meal at Denny's (etc.) is a bit much. And how quickly would the Boston Marathon bombers have been caught without all this surveillance?

Finally, so a landlord has keys. Do your really think a convicted child molester would buy an apartment building just so he could use those keys to molest again? So, investigate ownership before you rent.

Oh and one more thing, if you feel "Anyone who takes the pureness of any child deserves nothing." then lobby for laws keeping them in jail. See how far that gets you.
