View Full Version : Seasonal Allergies or more serious?

When I was a child between the ages of 2 and 3, I got severe sinus infections that lead to ear infections and eventually two sets of tubes in my ears and my adenoids removed. Doctors told my mom then that my grandmother's constant smoking was at least part of the cause. As an adult, I've avoided smokers, but now my fiancé is one. While he doesn't smoke in the house, when he comes back in, the scent can be really strong on him still. I have started feeling like there is a lot of mucus in the back of my throat lately and I am not sure if it's new allergies from having moved recently, or if my childhood issues are going to start returning. I have started taking Claritin, but I'm not sure if it's actually doing anything at this point. Any advice?

I would stop taking over the counter medications because there is a previous history and consult with a Physician. If it is an allergy it could get very severe very suddenly and I wouldn't take that chance.
