Are you able to prove there was ever an agreement in writing that both parties agreed to and the terms of it?

Otherwise its your word against thiers... and legally they own the property.

What that means.. is verbal agreements are almost impossible to prove... you have an uphill battle on a very steep hill.

And as with anything that involves a large sum of money... you should have gotten it in writing from the beginning.

In most places, all contracts for purchase of real estate must be in writing.

You need to hire lawyer, first at worst you are a renter, and they can not just evict you.
So demand entrance and go to police to force them to allow you back in. This is a illegal eviction.
I doubt they really went to an attorney, no attorney would allow an illegal eviction.

But it is possible they will evict you, since you have no written contract for sale of house

Speak to an attorney immediately.

First, by changing the locks they illegally evicted you. You should be entitled to a considerable amount for the illegal eviction.

Second, the text messages you have, along with the work that you did to the property, may give you a better case for forcing the sale. But this won't happen unless you speak to an attorney.
