My boyfriend checks in with an automated system every month. He had a class f felony with 5 years probation. He was living in nyc when he got the charges. He moved in with me upstate to get away from "the block" and the temptation to sell drugs. He has told his po the new address and asked for a transfer in December. When he called it stated he had a court appearance for yesterday in front of the original sentancing judge. We assume its because he didn't get permission before moving. He went to court yesterday morning and I haven't heard from him since. I assume they put him in jail but my question is how much time do you think he will receive for this. He has had no new charges or dirty urines while on probation and has checked in every month via the automated system

He violated the terms of his probation. A lot will depend on how much time and effort it took the PO to locate him. As my colleague, Excon, says - the PO is not his friend.

He could get the original sentence, the original sentence plus additional time, a warning (which I doubt if you haven't heard from him).

Why didn't he wait for permission? He apparently knew he would be in violation -
