My starting balance on HST payable is negative. How do I fix this. It is an error from a while back. Do I add it to the debit column and calculate as usual.
I printed the "transaction by account"
HST Payable to start is: -545.13
Ending balance
Debit Credit Balance
1075.19 3.90 -1263.86
How do I figure this out?

I don't think harmonizing sales tax is used in the US; we in Canada pay HST plus GST, so our experts here may not understand the way it is added. Please give more detail so you may receive a qualified answer.
You are invoicing and charging HST as a separate item.

The HST is Provincial sales tax (PST) and General sales tax (GST) combined at 13%. I am calculating my quarterly remittance. I printed "transactions by account" from Quick books.
The starting balance in the HST payable account is -545.13, which I believe should be zero.
Recoverable HST balance is 1075.19
Payable HST balance is 356.46 which includes a refund of 352.56 so the balance is 3.90.
The ending HST balance in the HST payable account is -1263.86
How do I fix the error and calculate my remittance as the starting HST payable account balance should be zero.
