Today I received a yellow paper requesting more evidence. The first paragraph reads "For the Household member's income to be included, the household's member's income must have been from a lawful source and earned while authorized to work in the United States" Can you please help me understand. I sent a copy of my US passport. Also, my husband's EAD was not expired at the time that he was working at Big Retail Company. What are they talking about? We sent a copy of my husband's EAD which is expired now but was not expired then.

There should be a form number or other ID info other than a “yellow paper.”

It appears that there is some concern about your husband’s income and Immigration is stating that it had to be from a lawful source (and that’s any legal employment, for example, not selling drugs) AND it had to be earned while he was authorized to work in the US - not after his EAD expired.

That is what they are asking for - proof that the income was from a legal employer AND earned prior to the expiration.

They don't want the
EAD - they do want proof of income/when earned.
