Hello:

Not yet... But, I see cracks in the foundation.

In the main, people refer to criminals as REAL BAD people... I'd LIKE to agree. But, as long as that designation INCLUDES non violent drug offenders, I cannot.

By LUMPING them together, it DIMINISHES the badness of the really bad, and ENHANCES the badness of those who aren't bad at all.

Get real ex drug users are not good people and drug pushers are bad people and how do you tell the difference?

Hello clete:

I'm a drug user and I'm a FINE gentleman. Have I ever sold some herb? I HAVE, and I'm STILL a fine gentleman.

Hello Steve:

If there's NO question, why did you answer?

Someone had to ask one.

Hello again, Steve:

Someone had to ask one.You don't know how appropriate your comment is...

Like this site, the drug war has rules that make NO sense. Instead of questioning the sensibility of the rules, like a good right winger, you demand adherence.

Here's the truth. THIS is a discussion board. Irrespective of the rules, it doesn't NEED a question... Here's some MORE truth.. The drug war has been an EPIC failure that's cost TRILLIONS of $$'s and ruined MILLIONS of lives...

Just wondering what exactly you wanted here. You know already I'm against filling our prisons with non-violent pot smokers, I honestly don't get why it's illegal. Fair enough?

Hello again, Steve:

What about non violent heroin users? The problem is prohibition - not the illegality of pot. If we don't end it, or at least decriminalize it, the problems continue.

In fact, if you wanted to design a system to maximise harm from drugs, the drug war would be perfect..

Personally I don't find heroin to be that harmless. You want all manner of regulation but not something like heroin? Dude.

Hello again, Steve:

I don't find it harmless either.. But, THAT'S not a reason to keep locking addicts up. The HARM is stealing to meet the demands of their habit.. That's a function of prohibition - NOT the drug. I promise you, in my younger days, when I snorted a line of coke, I did NOT have an overwhelming need to rob a 7/Eleven.

Furthermore, if it were decriminalized, addicts would come forward for treatment. Who wants to come forward now when they'll throw you in the can?

Bottom line. It's a health problem - not a crime problem.

Ex we can agree drug addiction is a health problem, but drug distribution is a criminal law problem. The hard part is how to distinguish the two when possession is evidence of law breaking. Possession of small quantities is not evidence of personal use but might be evidence of dealing and vis-a-versa so the way to deal with the problem is to make possession illegal, a very blunt instrument. You want possession decriminalised, this doesn't deal with the problems created by addiction. Have respect for the law ex and stop using dope

Hello again,

Indiana Senate Committee to Vote (http://www.thedailychronic.net/2013/16657/indiana-senate-committee-to-vote-on-tougher-marijuana-possession-law/) on Tougher Marijuana Possession Law.
The DOC projects that the state's prison population could grow by 70 percent in 20 years if the bill becomes law.

Guess who is the largest contributor to Governor Mike Pense? That's right. The private prison lobby (http://prisonpork.wordpress.com/tag/mike-pence/).

The drug war may have just begun:

So what good is a fence and guards every ten feet when the drug lords can move dope and people under it? Like ex said, the prison business is booming with much help from lawmakers.

Stop and frisk was good enough for black guys, why not include brown guys.

Perhaps you could use a one size fits all solution and frisk everyone
