Last Thursday I passed my citizenship test and was told it would take 30 to 60 days for my oath ceremony, but my green card expires in less then a week.
I apply for my citizenship four months ago, what should I do? I don't feel like paying $500 dollars when I already passed my citizenship test, and in all honesty I didn't think I need it to. Any help would be appreciated.

Some people would be very careful to not get in a trouble, not even a parking ticket, while they wait it out. But I would suggest going to plead for the right to be considered a citizen having passed the test, with the oath a formality, and with the hardship of $500. Honesty works best.

It just seems absurd to me after I paid 700 to start my citizenship papers to pay another $500 only because I started my papers 2 months late. Not to mention 14k of lawyer fees to get my green card 10 years ago. Thank you for your reply, I have a lawyer appointment tomorrow.

Aw gee, why pay a lawyer again? Just call immigration and ask. You are a citizen!
