Hi, I am a teenager that is very embarrassed about the strecth marks that are on my hips and buttocks. I have had them since I hit puberty and never really could remember my body without them. They are awful, and really hit my selfesteem. I would like nothing more than to be rid of them however it is not as easy as I would like. I wonder if old stretch marks like mine are ever going to disappear. Will I be free of my burden to bare imperfect skin? I feel trapped as I cannot wear any sort of bathing suit without them showing and it is down right shameful. It bothers me more than I can express and I feel hopeless as I have tried everything but trilastin. Being that I am a student and don't have money to throw around I ask for guidance in determining whtether trilastin would be a good investment or not. Does anyone know if trilastin can get rid of years of stretchmarks?

Salmagirl, I don't really believe any topical cream will rid anyone of stretch marks, albeit minimally. If you were heavy in puberty then I can understand why you would have stretch marks now, but too my knowledge they normally disappear as you grow and fill out, which is only natural.

I think the best way, but expensive, is laser surgery that can be done a bit at a time until all the stretch marks you see minimize or disappear.

Visit the trilistan website on Google and see what you think.

You can try skin exfoliaters which take time but consistency with this method works. Or, visit a dermatologist and get a professional opinion; and I think they will recommend laser surgery.

This is an interesting question for me, because I never understood why I have stretch marks on the inside edges of my breasts, which were never large. The marks never went away, and I am now 66. I decided when I was a teen that it was because I always slept on my stomach and my breasts sort of go out to the sides. I don't believe that now, of course. I discovered when I had my first mammogram that my mammary tissue is indeed unusually off to the sides, practically under my arms, and it's always a pain to have to go back for a second mammogram even though I explain my history!
Anyway, I think it has to do with several factors aside from weight gain and loss, because I didn't gain or lose when I got them. They are like tendons almost, sort of stringy tough tissue. I have them other places too. I have keloid skin and surgery scars never go away. I think it's partly hormones and partly genetics, if it's not related to weight gain/loss, and there is nothing to do.
Someday it won't bother you. Until then, realize that you are not disfigured and there are others much, much worse off.

Along with Joy's great post I would like to point out that as your body develops and fills out, the stretch marks you see will be far less noticeable to you and others. Vitamin c oil is good for those areas but you have to be diligent with the application, after every shower.

If you feel this way now, I don't know how you will react to stretch marks from pregnantcy!

However, moving forward, you will find a more mature attitude towards this issue helps a lot.

And I wonder (being Wondergirl) whose body you are comparing yours to -- the Playboy model of the month or the sleek lady in underwear ads whose photos have undergone airbrushing like crazy before they hit print? Most of the girls your age are obsessed with some kind of physical flaw -- acne, a fat face, cellulite, scar tissue, a crooked nose, an overbite/underbite, thick thighs, too curly (or too straight) hair. In a few years, rational thought will return. I used to think I was one of the ugliest girls in my class. I look at those photos of me now and think, Gee, I was darn cute!

@ tickle- I was afraid I would have to do laser treatment in the future, haha looks like ill have to try and find a good paying job. In the mean time I will try vitamin c or visit a demotologist. I always wondered about pregnancy marks, however I feel that at that stage in my life I will take more precationary methods in preventing marks from occurring and or remaining.
@joypuly- thank you for your insight into the issue, I really appreciate you kind words, and yes hopefully if I can't get reif of them I will grow to accept them :)
@wondergirl- I feel that often it is the curse of growing up in such a body conscious society that many girls my age face. I consciously or subconciously always end up comparing myself to those women. Thank you so much for your grounding words, I frequently think that I too, will someday look upon these years of my life and think myself silly for every feeling self conscious. I suppose it is a confidence thing. Hopefully I can overcome that.

Thank you to everyone who replied to this post, you have helped me a lot by giving me your thought and time.

I also got stretch marks through puberty (I'm 15) and although I have never been fat I got heaps of them. I have stretch marks everywhere -seriously- I have them on my thighs, butt, legs, hips and boobs and it makes me feel really insecure obviously, but I am trying TriLASTIN, I have only been using it for about two 2 weeks but I'm noticing some results, although my (old) scars haven't shown much of a difference my skin is a lot more tighter and feels more elastic. I'm not sure how it will turn out but I will tell you how it progresses in about a month or so.

I also didn't want to spend heaps of money on this product so I looked around at some other sites that I could buy it off that were cheaper and I found that Ebay had some TriLASTIN too, the cheapest one I found was US $89.28 but I also found another one which included the HydroThermal Accelerator but cost more, at a price of US $99.91 and US $12.00 shipping.

Hope this helps.

I don't see how it can work except through wishful thinking after spending all that money.
"Collagen infused microspheres" cannot get through the skin.
Microspheres? Give me a break. Nothing like that can get under the skin.
As for collagen, it's the major insoluble fibrous protein in the extracellular matrix and in connective tissue of all animals. As we age, we lose it, and wrinkles appear, tendons and other connective tissues, sag, and so on.
Collagen can be injected for temporary elimination of wrinkles by puffing the tissue right under the injection. Lip injections are collagen.
ALL the sites with positive reviews I just looked at are written by Trilastin. The rest are people saying it doesn't work.
Chemicals that really can get through the skin (without entering through a cut) are dangerous.
Save your money.
