Okay so basically I was 12 when I first dyed my hair I was a cherry red colour,my school complained so I had to go to a different more natural colour so I went black, worst chose ever I've been black for about 1 and a half years now and I'm really sick of it,my natural colour is a light brown,I use all different types of hair dyes I don't use live because it gives me a really itchy sore scalp after I use it,so what I want to know is is there anyway I can get my hair to go to a nice brown colour with out bleaching,I'm kind of in the middle about stripping because of the damage it causes,I know there's loads of questions similar to mine but they are really confusing people say dye blonde over it but I don't think that will work, please help I've got to the point were I want to shave my hair all off and start again! Please help with reasons.

Black is next to impossible to cover with store bought hair dyes.

I don't know of any hairdresser that will even attempt to go to brown over black (unless your hair is naturally black) without stripping it first.

Sorry, but stripping it, as far as I know, is really your only option if you want to avoid shaving your head.
