I'm 22 years old, is it legal to date a 16 year old in the state of Georgia? The age of consent is 16 and her parents also let me be with her! But I'm confused about the age gap I keep hearing! Can someone please help? And no I'm not a predator! We were just friends but I fell in love! And can't stand being away from her

There is no law in the state of Georgia that is against dating, but obviously laws against sex or any inappropriate touching.

Well is it legal for sexual stuff? I mean we're not but the law is so difficult they can charge u for anything, I've read a 16 year old is the age of consent for sex! But does that mean age of consent for sex with a 22 year old?

Is it legal for a 22 year old to have sex with a 16 year old in the state of Georgia? The age of consent is 16, does that mean she can have sex with anyone over the age of 16 even if the male is 22? And I'm confused because of the age gap and close age exemption! Can someone please explain all this please?

Even thou she is able to give consent to have sex she is still a 16-year-old and a minor and therefore, her parents have control over who she is/is not allowed to see. If her parent have no problem with the two of you dating then like I said its OK. Although Georgia does have a law against fornication which states (An unmarried person commits the offense of fornication when he voluntarily has sexual intercourse with another person). In fact a sometime back there was a 17 year old being convicted of fornication for having sex with his 16 year-old girlfriend. In your case there is no close-in-age exception, though the offenses are a misdemeanor rather than a felony in cases where the person is (less than 19 years of age and is no more than 4 years older than the victim)

Well both her parents agree to us being together! I just want to make sure I can not be charged with anything! There is so many laws u can never be sure! But she is at the age of consent an I read in Georgia at the age of consent u can have sexual intercourse with anyone over the age of consent! So we should be fine correct? And both her parents agree to us being together

16 is the age of consent. She can have sex with you and it will be fine.

Ask her parents first if you may have sex with her.

Are you prepared to be a father? I assume she plans on finishing school?
