At first my cat, Riley, was sick. She had been stepped on a couple weeks ago by my sister right in her midsection and she started acting weird yesterday. My mom thought it was a spinal injury or there was a hole in her diaphragm and her organs were going up into her chest. But than my other cat, Charlie, started showing symptoms today. Riley can barely walk, when she does, she falls over. Both of them are sleeping a lot, and Riley hasn't been peeing or pooping. Charlie was really hot, according to my mom. They haven't had their vaccines, yet. Does anyone know what might be wrong with them? They have an appointment with the vet tomorrow, but I'm worried.

Yes I know your cat was stepped on, but what I can't understand is why you didn't take the cat to the vet immediately after this injury, and this was two weeks ago! Both of them are unable to walk and haven't done their business.

We can't tell you what is wrong with them; we can't diagnose on the internet.

I think you have waited far too long to get them to the vet.

You should be ashamed of yourself for the treatment of the cat that was stepped on. How could you watch the little thing suffer.

First of all, she was fine after she was stepped on. She started getting sick TWO days ago. My mom called the vet immediately. Our town is really stupid when it comes to animals. There's no animal hospital, and you can't just walk into the vet and they treat them right than and there. You don't know the whole situation. And my mom and I LOVE our pets.

Having pets without vaccines is also careless. They should have had a vet visit when you got them. Any vet will see an injured animal immediately. You just carry them in.

Any vet will see an injured animal. Secondly. Any newest brought into a household should be taken to the vet right away. Vet Checked for health issues and vaccinations lined up.

I know you posted days AGO that you were concerned because your sister stepped on the cat. So do t tell me it just GOT sick now.

How did she manage to step on the mid section of that little animal and so hard that your mom thought internal organs were misplaced?

And you come on here and ask what is wrong with your cats!

If we can't see them and feel them then how do you expect a diagnosis?

I'm really sorry about my rude reply the other day. It's been a stressful time at my house lately, and then Riley and Charlie got sick and I was really scared, so when I read your comment, I just blew up, and I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that. As far as my sister goes, she's really flightly and hiper and doesn't watch where she is walking. I had posted on Monday that my cat started acting weird that morning. My mom said that it could take some time for the organs to start moving or the spine to swell if it was one of those injuries. Today is Thursday, so we took the cats to the vet yesterday. I thought you might want to know what's wrong with them. They have some sort of virus, they gave us antibiotics and steroids. Once they get better, we're going to get them vaccinated. Once again, I'm really sorry.

I know it was really stupid not to get them vaccinated. We took them to the vet and they have a virus. The vet gave us antibiotics and steroids. Once they're better, we're going to get them vaccinated. Oh and they're eating and drinking now, so that's good.

Thanks so very much for letting us know the outcome of the vet visit. I hope your two furr babies stay healthy now, and don't forget to have them spayed or neutered.

Yes we're doing that too when they get better. It wouldn't be good for them to be sick and go through surgery.

What town do you live in where vets don't deal with emergencies during working hours?

Yuma. This town is crawling with animals. There's so many cats and dogs most people consider them pests here. And since there is the vets are always busy. Its sad.

Yuma AZ? There's a large emergency hospital (Welcome to Desert Vet (http://www.desertvet.com/)) there. Though I know there are other Yumas, I just find it weird. Working in the field, you can literally walk in to any clinic and if you are willing to wait, they will deal with emergencies. They could be reported and fined otherwise,

Idk. My mom is the one who called the vet. She said she called every vet and no one would take them earlier. And I looked at the Web site. It said to call ahead for emergencies. So I don't know. All that matters is that Riley and Charlie are getting better.

Call ahead so they can prepare for the emergency, it's standard protocol but they deal with walk in emergencies regular.

Anyway, glad your cats are better. If it happens again, now you know of an emerg vet that will take your pets in 24/7.

Thought you might want to see how Charlie's doing after being spayed and neutered. She's still under anesthesia, so she a little dopy: Cat in a Cone - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWZjY_NB8CM)
