My 2006 CRV had a moderate "shimmy" while accelerating between 60-70. Took it into dealership today and took advantage of my "tires for life" package again ; ) only to have the Service guy tell me that the shimmy is due to the axels being "worn". I told him this is a Honda... they don't wear out if you take care of them... "this is unacceptable". Needless to say they wanted me out of their busy service department ASAP! So, am I being sold a "bill of goods"? He then said that the worn axels were not a safety issue but would effect the ride... is it a safety issue? My trust in this place is waning at this point, cause on the way home I could barely feel any vibration when entering the freeway.
So do I need the $972.00 axels?
Or is this some type of scam to get more money out of the lady of the house?

What is the mileage on the vehicle? Vehicle parts that don't wear out haven't been invented yet and not likely to be anytime soon, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he was correct that you have axle problems. Did you have the tires replaced, or did you mean that you tried to take advantage of a "tires for life" package, and they said no problem with tires, it's the axles?

That's pretty high for Axles. CRV's are tire sensitive, I have a 2005 and put Toyo's on. Never again, never could balance and at 70 always had a little wiggle. Sold them and went with Michelins and no further problems.
