Hi,

I was in india in 2012 and had paid taxes there for my income from Jan 2012 to sep 2012. After that, I had quit my job, I got married in dec 2012 and have come to US with my husband. Since we got married in dec 2012, he is filling as married filing jointly for the year 2012 in USA. In that case in USA, should we include my indian income as foreign income since it has already been taxed in india? If, so, is there a way to get double taxation benefit?

You can avoid double taxation by either claiming the Foreign Tax Credit (Form 1116) or the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (Form 2555) or both.
