How do I find balance of my 401k 2012 for my taxes?

I don't remember ever having to put what I have in my or my wife's 401K plan into my tax returns. And I have a Certified accountant do mine every year.
And if you need to know that.. your 401K plan administrator sends quarterly statements to your address.. It has all that information.

If you haven't been receiving quarterly statements, you should. Ask your employer for the contact information for the plan administrator and ask them to send it to you.
401(k) money is not taxable until you start accessing it in retirement, unless you take an early withdrawal, so smoothy is right.

Balances of pension plans ARE reported on Form 5498.
