Did you ask how the abortion would endanger your life? I'm wondering if that was a general statement, or one that was directed at you specifically.

Unless there's a medical reason, abortions are usually pretty safe. But your doctor knows you best, and knows your medical history. If your doctor said this, he has his reasons. We cannot tell you the risks since we don't know your medical history.

It's a bit late for that though. She's pregnant, and she lives in China (isn't there a law in China, one child limit?) has a child, and has been told she can't abort because it's too risky.

I really wish she'd come back and tell us why an abortion is so risky. Also, what will happen to this second child if she is forced to give birth?

I was meaning more afterwards. From talking to a few of my Chinese coworkers, born and raised in China, you can have more then one but you need to get special permission to do so. There are hurdles to jump. My coworker, and her brother, were children of a pair of engineers so it wasn't hard to get the second permit. I think that is how it works based on what I was told.

I wish she would too. My thrust was that any procedure is dangerous. Simple and safe procedures can go horribly wrong. Chances are they won't but there is a possibility.

I would like the OP to tell us why her doctor thinks this procedure would be harmful for her. There must be a medical reason for this, and we're not getting the info needed to give her an accurate answer.

Bottom line, if the doctor thinks it's dangerous, he/she has his/her reasons to feel that way, and the doctor has access to medical records we don't. So I'd go with the doctors diagnosis on this one.
