Hi everyone! I've been kind of hanging around and reading posts and you all seem very helpful so I was wondering if someone could give me a little advice on this girl I've been seeing.

Anyway, first I must say that I am just beginning to feel fully recovered from a long-term relationship- one of those high school ones taken too far pretty much, and so I'm still very shy and almost clueless as to how dating works now that I'm out of my relationship.

So I met this girl at a bar/club one night and asked her to dance. We danced all night, she took my hand and we went downstairs and talked. We really hit it off and she offered me her number and said we should hang out.

I give her a call a few days later and we go play pool. Good times all night and during the game I'd tease her a bit since she was terrible and just made her laugh and stuff. I put my arm around her a few times to congratulate her on her shots... haha. Then I dropped her off at her house and that was it. No kissing or hugs or anything.

So we went out again last night to see a movie and to my surprise she paid for my ticket. Throughout the whole movie I kept wanting to hold her hand or something but figured it would be awkward because I didn't think people did that stuff anymore during a movie after high school... lol. I didn't want to be lame and put my arm around her... haha.

After the movie we went to a diner and got an omelette which we split and had some more good conversation.

I really like this girl but I'm just afraid to make the move. I'm sort of waiting for the right moment, as I don't want it to be awkward or out of place you know? During the movie she'd lean into me a bit and our arms touched and she'd whisper comments to me, etc. She seemed comfortable. Her paying is a good sign too.

I wanted to kiss her goodnight in the car but she kind of just opened the door, said goodbye and left... lol. I didn't really have a chance!

I was thinking of cooking her dinner and watching some TV at her place for our next date. Maybe some quiet time together with just her and I would be a good plan. Plus, I could show off my cooking skills, which are awesome if I am allowed to brag a bit.

Can you guys help a shy guy out? Would it be weird to just grab her a kiss her? I don't know... :confused:

No, I don't advise you grab her or anything! Your plan for your next date (wooing her with your cooking) sounds like a great time to make the first move. It seems that you've already broken the ice with physical closeness since she has been leaning into you. So, after you've eaten your amazing dinner, pop in a movie or something and settle down on the couch with her. Hopefully, she'll lean into you and you can put your arms around her while you lounge. Get comfortable and take your time. Then, when you feel comfortable, just pop a kiss wherever your lips are closest to: her head, temple, or cheeks. See how she takes it. Hopefully she will look up at you and give you the green light and you can slowly go in for the kill. Or if nothing happens, just keep watching the movie and wait! Either way, you will have taken the first step and be on your way to that first kiss!

Wrong. If there is chemistry, there is chemistry and should happen. I met my wife of 19 years in a club. When the evening ended she gave me her number and a kiss on the cheek. We made out on our first oficial date and been togther since. Prior to the wife I dated many women and I never waited more than 2 dates. Luckily for me I was never rejected, but if you are move on. Don't be such a nice guy. "nice guys" are "friends".

I will point out something. Maybe she is shy TOO. Conversation about the actual nervousness of kissing her may work as well. See how she feels about it. She may just kiss you or may say " I am shy too and was wondering when you would kiss me"... that would be the perfect moment!

And in high school I remember "getting with a girl" and then making out right away.

Yes! A woman's opinion!

I've asked some of the guys and they all say just "grab her and do it". But I must disagree. I mean, how weird would it be if we were walking to my car and all of a sudden I just grab her and kiss? LOL... awkward to say the least.

I'm kind of just waiting for that right moment where we are close, and we're in a good quiet environment. Kissing at the movies is lame, and so is trying to hold her hand during a movie... seems kind of highschoolish to me. My take is just watch the damn movie... lol.

So I'm hoping she'll want to do the homecooked dinner date thing. I'm just worried that she thinks I'm not into her. I like her and I think she's a great catch, I just don't want to push her away by making it seem like I don't want to kiss her!
