Some quick background: I am a 24 year old female with a history of an eating disorder (Anorexia Nervosa - purging type). However since being released from impatient treatment 10 months ago I have been following my meal plan pretty well, have maintained a healthy weight, and haven't purged at all. Other than that, I am pretty healthy.

For the past month or so I have been having these intense, deep pains in my chest. The pain starts in my chest and radiates to my jaw and back. I am not honestly totally sure how to describe them. But it's so much pain that I cannot hold still (if that makes sense), it's high up there with the worst pain I have ever felt.

And it happens at random times. I have been keeping a log to try to pinpoint if there are any overlaps but it's pretty random. Last night it woke me up about 4am out of a deep sleep. It has mostly gone away except my chest has been very tight all day (which is typical after these "attacks").

I know I should probably see a doctor, but most of my family is convinced that its just anxiety and therefore nothing to be checked. I really hate the idea of going to the doctor and it being nothing and looking like I was worried over nothing.

Any ideas on what could be going on? Is it even worth getting checked?

Radiating pain from the chest upwards is always cause for concern. Your previous condition was very hard on the vascular system. My best advice is see your doctor ASAP and take your chart.
