The Little red hen children's story... updated for 2013 mentalities.


The Little Red Hen is what I think of every time I hear the word "entitlement"... wonder why?


"Who will help me plant my wheat?" asked the little red hen.


"Not I," said the cow.


"Not I," said the duck.


"Not I," said the pig.


"Not I," said the goose.


"Then I will do it by myself." She planted her crop and the wheat grew and ripened.


"Who will help me reap my wheat?" asked the little red hen.


"Not I," said the duck.


"Out of my classification," said the pig.


"I'd lose my seniority," said the cow.


"I'd lose my unemployment compensation," said the goose.


"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen, and so she did.


"Who will help me bake the bread?" asked the little red hen.


"That would be overtime for me," said the cow.


"I'd lose my welfare benefits," said the duck.


"I'm a dropout and never learned how," said the pig.


"If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination," said the goose.


"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen.


She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share but the little red hen said, "No, I shall eat all five loaves."

And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.


When the farmer, obama came, he said to the little red hen, "You must not be so greedy."


"But I earned the bread," said the little red hen.


"Exactly," said barack the farmer. "That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle."


And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, "I am grateful, for now I truly understand."


But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.


Individual initiative had died but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for.


And perhaps... this is the end...


And the next week, there was no bread, or anything else to eat. So, they all starved equally.


EPILOGUE


Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs. Hillary got $8 million for hers. That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under "oath", that they couldn't remember anything.

I'm sorry smoothy, perhaps I missed it, where is the fox in that story, you see in the story of the fox and the hen the fox worked very hard but he never got his reward, no freeloaders there to steal his meal.

The moral of the story is it doesn't matter how hard you work you are not entitled to a free lunch

The moral of the story is if you DON'T get off your butt and work... the people that were are going to stop and the gravy train will come to a screeching halt.

Nobodies going to work hard so the lazy people get just as much or more of what you worked hard to earn as you do.

I'm not arguing that lazy people should have more than hard workers but that hard workers should be rewarded for their efforts, this does not remove the possibility that a hard worker will share their rewards. If I remember the original story of the hen, those who did not share in the work were willing to help the hen eat the bread but there was no enforcer. The hen tried to gain something for nothing but was outsmarted

Why should the hard worker HAVE to share anything with the person who chooses to make NO effort at all?

The problem with that view is if you fail to share eventually there will be revolution and you will loose anyway. In every society there is a duty of care

Really? That requires someone to get off their butts and do something... something they aren't willing to do.

Besides... all it takes if for us to stop doing anything since we they are the only ones really getting a benefit anyway... then what do they end up with... again... nothing.

Because we are at that point now... we are sick and tired of working our butts off every day and handing over half of it to people who do absolutely nothing.

Nobody believes YOU give half your earnings from hard work away. I mean how hard are you working when you are on the Internet most of the time, and getting paid?

I'm supposed to take the word of people who probably get more back from credits and deductions than they pay in taxes in the first place?

I didn't tought it out through College.. spend ten years paying off those loans and another thirty years to get where I am now to give half of it to a high school dropout who the hardest thing they ever did was knock up the ugly chick down the street that put out for a couple beers?

Sorry... no sympathy here for those people at all.

I can do what I do because #1 I'm damn good at it... and #2 there are very few other people that can.

I sure do... look at the people who've gotten their panties in a knot over trying to justify their RIGHT to take the stuff other people had to work for and they didn't.
