Be responsible and stay informed. Its your job as a citizen to do so.
So why do the Republicans refuse to become socially active and make changes/teach classes/volunteer at schools and libraries and literacy centers?

Hello again, tom:

It was. The problem is the right wing still thinks their puny assault weapons are gonna do the job

FYI, they aren't "assault weapons" any more. According to our President and his VP they are "weapons of war" now. Shame your president can't make his case without fear mongering, shame, politicizing a tragedy. And now blatant, deliberate deception.

Oh yeah, Biden also confirmed what we've been saying, the current gun control effort is "just the beginning (http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2013/03/28/Biden-Audio-Assault-Weapons-Ban-Just-The-Beginning)."

Many that I know do and they give back to the community at large. They realize that they have done well and encourage others to do so.

So they are social activists and agents of social change?

No chance of this in THIS country! Too many checks and balances.

Lol tyranny usually comes with thunderous applause from the compliant sheeple . Maybe you should tell that to the survivors of Roosevelt's decision to put Japanese Americans in concentration camps.

BTW ;the checks and balances that would prevent that ? Here it is .

No they are leaders by example. Its up to the others to follow them. Its not about forcing a change. That is what social activists do. Force their ideas on others.

So they just stand there looking suave but are not sweating in the trenches serving as volunteers who "force their ideas" by trying to rescue failing schools or teach ESL/literacy to immigrants or tutor in after-school programs. Got it!

You are entitled to your opinion. Should you find any like you describe let me know. Maybe even provide a link so we can all check it out.

Because what your spewing today doesn't come close to the real world most of us live in.

Schools and libraries around here are filled with efforts like I described.

Here's an idea, how about we use the bazillions of tax dollars we spend on this to educate kids instead of indoctrinating them and propping up the teachers unions and keeping bad teachers on the payroll?

Case in point, Chicago teacher's union brought in an anarchist (http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/03/chicago-teachers-union-protest-pits-the-genuinely-frustrated-against-fithians-trained-wimps/)to train teachers in civil disobedience, pitting concerned parents against people who openly state public schools are the battleground for teaching Marxist thought.

But it's for the children.

And no one allowed to be parents until they have met certain standards for raising kids, teaching those kids self respect (so they will wait until marriage to have babies), and knowing how to support the schools their kids attend.

So a license to parent? Interesting, who sets the standards? Some Marxist psychologists?

It's easy if you aren't old enough to drink you aren't old enough to be a parent, you don't need tests, just common sense

Problem is too many of these people breeding don't have any common sense... much less any intelligence.

Hell look at some of the questions we get from women who don't have a clue how human reproduction works... despite years of teaching it in the schools.

AND NOT at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck... its just another indication of how poor the education system has become despite throwing more and more money at it.

As if throwing money at a problem ever solved a problem... all it does is make the people responsible for the problem richer.

Actually the people that were taught at home... usually have more of a clue...

Plenty of blame to go around there... guys get the same sex education as women do... in the schools. They don't get a free ride any more than the girls do... or the ineffective teachers that are paid big bucks to teach it. I think we deserve refunds.
