If the father of my baby decides he wants nothing to do with me and the child can he get away with not paying child support? The baby is not born yet?

There is no child support until the baby is born and then you go to court. The court then orders him to pay child support whether he wants to have anything to do with the baby or not. It's not really up to him to decide if he wants to pay... the court orders it.
