Hello
My exhusband up and left to AZ with his girl friend before we were divorced, and left me with the house to deal with and that's fine but he won't sign any papers to help me get onto the HAMP program so that I can keep the children in the house and in the same school district. Is there any abandonment laws in Maryland that I can use? Oh and no he won't sign a quit claim deed either. No he is not paying child support. And no I can't find him now. :-) please help!!

I have never been through what you are going through. I do know that there are many lawyers out there who offer free consultations. I would contact one in your area and ask those type of questions. I'm not sure if this differs from state to state, but after so long in most cases, the divorce is finalized whether he signs or not and you get everything. Hope this helps and I hope the best for you in the future. Keep you head up and stay strong. You will be fine.

If you can't find him, there is little you can do, but you file for child support in the courts, when you filed for divorce did the court award you the house ? If you can not get him to sign it over, go back to court to get a court order for that to happen.

Often it is hard to make it happen,

You said you "were divorced". Does that mean a court issued a divorce decree? Was there child and/or spousal support ordered as part of the divorce? Were you awarded the house?

If he refuses to sign paperwork, the, as noted, you go back to the court, show that you have tried to contact him and he has refused to follow the court orders and get the courts to issue orders removing him from the property etc.
